Netflix Stars at Saimaa Film Festival

Netflix actresses Excel Busano and Donna Levkovski will attend the inaugural Saimaa Film Festival in Imatra. Saimaa Film Festival will take place in South Karelia August 20–24, 2025.

Rising stars Excel Busano and Donna Levkovski, known for their roles in the acclaimed Danish Netflix series Secrets We Keep, will be official guests at the very first Saimaa Film Festival on August 23rd, 2025.

As one of the world’s most influential streaming services, Netflix continues to shape the global film and television landscape. Welcoming Busano and Levkovski to South Karelia is a significant honour for both the festival and the region.

Secrets We Keep is a limited mystery drama series created and co-written by Ingeborg Topsøe and directed by Per Fly. The story follows the disappearance of Ruby (Donna Levkovski), a vulnerable Filipino au pair, from a wealthy neighbourhood. As the investigation unfolds, long-hidden secrets of the area are revealed.

Secrets We Keep marks the series debut for both Excel Busano and Donna Levkovski. These young Filipino actresses bring strong depth and presence to their roles. At the festival, they will share insights into their creative journey, talk about their experiences working on Secrets We Keep, and engage with audiences in Imatra.

A discussion and Q&A session with the actresses will be held on August 23rd in Festival Club (Koskenparras 5, Imatra) at 18.00

Saimaa Film Festival will screen films from about 20 countries. The festival’s Artistic Director is Kamran Shahmardan.
